Dr. Margaret James selected to serve on the Xenobiotic and Nutrient Disposition and Action Study Section

Margaret James, Ph.D., the Jack C. Massey Professor of medicinal chemistry, has accepted an invitation to serve as a member of the Xenobiotic and Nutrient Disposition and Action Study Section. Members are selected based upon the their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline. In the role, James will review grant applications submitted to the National Institutes of Health, or NIH, make recommendations on these applications to the appropriate NIH advisory council or board, and survey the status of research in her field of science.

Faculty member Margaret JamesNoni Byrnes, Ph.D., director of the Center for Scientific Review at NIH, noted in his invitation letter that, “Service on a study section also requires mature judgment and objectivity as well as the ability to work effectively in a group, qualities we believe Dr. James will bring to this important task.”

James will begin a four-year term for the study section on July 1.
