UF MedChem team participates in Joey’s Wings 5K & Obstacle Run

The Medicinal Chemistry team at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy hit the ground running on Nov. 16 to support pediatric cancer families and promote physical health. Participating in the 10th annual Joey’s Wings 5K & Obstacle Run, held at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, the team joined the community to honor the memory of Joey, a 10-year-old who lost his life to childhood cancer. Hosted by the Joey’s Wings Foundation, this heartfelt event continues to make an impact year after year.

Participants can choose between a 5K run/walk or a one-mile kids’ obstacle course, with proceeds going directly toward research, treatment, and support for local pediatric cancer families.

Representing the Medicinal Chemistry team were faculty members Lina Cui, Yousong Ding, Chenglong Li, and Chengguo Xing, alongside postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, including Alaleh Anvar, Laura Chen, Qi-Yin Chen, Drew Kwitchoff, Derrik Scharland, Johnathan Somers, Yuzhao Zhang, and Zhishen Wang.
