About Manyun Chen

Manyun Chen, Ph.D., received her B.S. degree from Tsinghua University (China), and later obtained her M.S. degree in pharmaceutical sciences from University of Southern California. She continued her study at the University of Florida and obtained the Ph.D. degree (2022) in Medicinal Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Yousong Ding. Her doctoral research focused on genomics guided discovery and elucidation of novel biosynthetic machineries. After graduation, she continued as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Ding Lab with the research focus on enzyme mechanistic study and biocatalyst development. Manyun was appointed as an assistant scientist in the UF College of Pharmacy’s Department of Medicinal Chemistry in March 2023. Her overarching research goal is to combine bioinformatics, chemical biology, and synthetic biology tools to discover and develop novel bioactive small molecules for therapeutic purposes. Currently, she works on the biosynthesis of marine natural products.
