Sampa Gupta, Ph.D.

Sampa Gupta was appointed as an assistant scientist in the UF College of Pharmacy’s Department of Medicinal Chemistry in May 2022. Sampa obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from University of Kalyani, India. She received her Ph.D. in the field of medicinal chemistry from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, India. After completing doctoral studies, she joined as a Postdoctoral Associate in Medicinal Chemistry department of University of Florida under supervision of Dr. Christopher McCurdy in the year 2020. Sampa has experiences in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry. In doctoral studies, she was devoted to do SAR based synthesis and optimizing biologically active small molecules including heterocyclic and carbohydrate molecules. Currently, she is focused to design and total synthesis of natural product analogs to treat pain and opioid use disorder.
